Racecourse post insert

The city’s property professionals will gather next Monday (26 June) at York Racecourse to celebrate York’s best designed new homes, public buildings, open spaces and conservation projects at the 2017 York Design Awards.

The aim of the York Design Awards, which are now in their 11th year, is to encourage and promote excellence in design and conservation, striving for the highest standards which will delight present and future generations. Winners will be chosen from a record-breaking 34 entries in categories that include small and large residential, conservation, commercial, open space, public domain and community projects.

The awards have been judged by a panel of independent judges, who visited every project, and selected those that meet their exacting criteria for high quality design.

Chair of the York Design Awards, Janet Hopton, said: “We’re delighted to be attracting a high volume and a wide variety of entries to the York Design Awards. It’s fabulous that we can reward and recognise the city’s buildings that are meeting a high design standard. Our thanks go to the judges, our sponsors and everyone who entered.  We’re excited to unveil the winners next week.”

The 2017 York Design Awards evening will take place on Monday 26th June at York Racecourse, which won a York Design Award in 2015 for its £5 million development programme.

The York Design Awards programme operates with the generous support of a number of sponsors who have a strong association with the city. Hiscox is once again the main sponsor, with additional high profile sponsors including Arup, O’Neill Associates, York Conservation Trust, Shepherd Group, York Civic Trust, City of York Council, York Guild of Building, George F White, Fulprint, Ravage Productions, Virgin Trains East Coast, The Partners Group, United by Design, York Racecourse, The Grand Hotel & Spa, Saville AV, York Explore, and York Science Park.
